104th Indian Science Congress to begin today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will set the tone for the five-day 104th Indian Science Congress, beginning at the world famous pilgrimage centre here tomorrow. The Congress, one of the most keenly watched events across the country by the scientific community, would be attended by more than 20,000 delegates, including top notch scientists, to take stock of the scientific pursuits at various laboratories and scientific and academic institutions in the country. The highlight of this year’s conference would be lectures by nine nobel laureates. Besides technical sessions covering various sectors in Science, the Congress would also have plenary sessions, in which cutting edge technologies would be discussed. Contribution of science and technology for development would be the buzz word and Modi is likely to open his heart out to the scientific community, to evolve scientific solutions for various ailments facing the country. The more than a century-old Congress, would also have a “pride of India” exposition, in which various institutions across the country would be exhibiting their achievements and developments.
