126 Pakistan pilgrims arrive in Fatehgarh to pay obeisance at Rouza Sharif

As many as 126 pilgrims from Pakistan reached here to pay obeisance at Rouza Sharif Urs at Fatehgarh Sahib.
On reaching Sirhind railway station, pilgrims were accorded warm welcome by local authorities. Some pilgrims complained that due to demonetisation of high value currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 in India, they faced problem as it was difficult for them to use Rs 2,000 currency note.
The three-day annual Rouza Sharif Urs, which started yesterday, at the tomb of Sufi saint Sheikh Ahmad Farooqui in Sirhind, is considered one of the holiest places in Islam, second after Mecca, will conclude on November 29. Large number of Muslims from various parts of the country is attending the urs, The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for holding the Urs in front of Baba Moti Ram Memorial Trust building near Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha informed that district administration have made arrangements of adequate bus service and parking space, proper drinking water, health facilities and uninterrupted power supply to area likely to be visited by the devotees. Health authorities have been asked
to make proper arrangement of medicines so that devotees would not face any problem.
The police has made special arrangements for security of pilgrims and to ward off any untoward incident. All the devotees would be provided adequate
security. Rouza Sharif’s Khalifa Mohd. Sadiq Raja said special arrangements have been made for board
and lodging of pilgrims, including a community kitchen.
Observed every year in “Safer” month of Muslim calendar, the Urs provides an opportunity not only to Muslims but also Hindus and Sikhs to pay obeisance to the saint.
It may be mentioned here that Rouza Sharif is situated on the Fatehgarh Sahib-Bassi Pathana road and the shire, built in 1929, is in the vicinity of the Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
