15.6 gm gold seized, 28 Thousand fine realised

Commercial Taxes sleuths on Friday realised Rs. 28 thousand penalty from a man for clandestinely importing a consignment of gold weighing 15.6 gm at Lakhanpur Check-Post.
As per information a routine naka led by Commercial Tax team, during naka team nabbed a resident of Amritsar, from a bus coming from Amritsar and seized 15.6 gm of gold ornaments. Which were being smuggled into the State without valid documents and by evading tax, a department official said. During preliminary questioning, the accused claimed the gold belongs to a jewellery shop in Jammu, he said.
The Department has imposed a penalty of Rs 28 Thousand on him and released the material.
