To create awareness among the masses about saving the girl child, a 2-day workshop was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh today. Paradise Women’s Welfare Society in collaboration with Gandhi Samriti and Darshan Samiti, and Union Ministry of Culture organized the workshop. Director Social Welfare, Hashmat Ali, Member State Social Welfare Board, Mrs Asha Saleem, Social Activist and Educationist, Mrs Qurat-ul-Ain, former Chief Information Commissioner G R Sofi, besides Principal GGHSS Kothibagh, faculty members of IMPA & ATI, officials of Directorate of Health Services, Social Activists, Volunteers, Teachers and Students took part in the workshop. On the occasion, speakers highlighted the broad features of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme and need for effective implementation of the scheme to improve the sex-ratio of the State. The speakers said there is a dire need to change the mindset of the society towards the girl child. They called for massive awareness and involving community and religious leaders for effective implementation of the scheme.
