2 SF personnel injured, militants escape after brief encounter in Kashmir

Two security personnel were injured when militants attacked a search party today in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, official sources said here. However, the militants gave a slip and operation has ended now, official sources said.
The sources said that following specific information about presence of some militants at Shahgund Hajin in Bandipora, the Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir launched a joint search operation in the area.
However, when security forces were moving towards a particular area, the militants fired at them with automatic weapons.
The forces also retaliated, ensuing an encounter, in which two security personnel were injured, the sources said.
Additional security forces from nearby camps were rushed to the area to further tighten the cordon to foil any attempts by the militants to escape. However, the militants managed to escape, the sources said, adding that the operation has now ended.
