A fierce gunfight has broken out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, a day after another encounter in Budgam.
The attack comes just days ahead of India’s 70th Republic Day celebrations. A top Hizbul Mujahideen commander is believed to be among the terrorists.
According to sources, around 4-6 terrorists are believed to be holed up in Shopian’s Zainapora area and forces are engaging them in a fierce gunbattle.
Security forces were conducting a regular combing operation when the terrorists started firing.
On Monday, terrorists opened fire at security forces in Budgam and two of them were killed in retaliatory firing.
