After J&K becoming an UT, growth and development in Industrialization has been expected from the public. Finally a major step as a part of the Industrial policy is taken. 25000 kanals of Government land has been transferred to Industry & Commerce Department for land Bank.
According to reports, 17000 kanals have been subjected to Jammu province and 8000 kanals of land to Kashmir promise. This act was tried before by the first J&K LG Girish Chandra Murmu when Industrialists were invited into the UT. This decisions will lead to 2 major benefits in the UT; first being economic growth and secondly development in Manufacturing and services.
Since last 2 years, more than 450 units have been constructed on Government land with respect to Industries. The process was thought back in 1960 when 1st Industrial estate was constructed in Digiana, Jammu and the need of a Land Bank was felt.
No land has been alloted any individual till now. In future, if required, land would be given on lease to an outsider with all the proper guidelines of the Industrial policy.
