The 28th Road Safety Week-2017 is being observed from January 09 to January 15, 2017. According to the Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir various events besides awareness programmes would be held during the weeklong campaign at different places to impart awareness to people about the driving etiquettes, road safety rules and guidelines for obtaining documents from the traffic department.
On the inaugural day, a car rally would be held from Indian Institute of Hotel Management, Rajbagh via Lal Chowk to Civil Secretariat Road during which pamphlets and stickers containing Road Safety tips would be distributed among the masses. During the week long awareness programme Traffic Police/MVD, Civil defence and general public would be involved to make people aware about the traffic rules and safety measures. The programme is aimed to accentuate commuters about the need of safe roads travel by applying just simple rules besides to decrease the road accidents.
