3 including woman, booked in cheating case in Mah

Three people, including a woman, have been booked on the charges of cheating a woman presently residing in UAE, Sharjah, under the pretext of removing her evil spirits, police said. An offence has been registered under Sections 420 of the IPC and also Section 3 of the Maharashtra
Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013, against the alleged accused Manohar Patole, police said yesterday. Police said the victim and the accused were both residents of the Jari Mari policeline in the city and they knew each other very well. According to the complaint, the accused served the Police Department and also the film city but later on turned to some other profession, police said.
After her marriage, the victim went to Sharjah and lived with her husband but after some time she was being harassed by her husband. When she returned here from Sharjah in January, she met the accused who inquired about her wellness
and came to know that she was facing a lot of problems because of her in-laws. The accused said he would solve her problems by practicing certain rituals for which he needed money and upon getting part of the money, he performed rituals at different places and gave her the Udhi and she left for Sharjah. The accused also told the victim that her husband was planning to desert her and marry another lady. Later, the accused started demanding more and more money. A total of sum of Rs 5,97,400 was paid till April 2016. This included currency in Dirhams also, the complaint stated. As she realised that she was being cheated, she filed the complaint with the local police at Rabodi who are now probing the case. The victim’s sister works in the Police Department and resides separately, it was stated.
