At least four people today died while six other sustained grievous injuries when the vehicle they were traveling rolled down into a deep gorge in Kallar area of district Poonch.
Reports said that the ill-fated Tata Sumo bearing registration number 3777/JK12 which was on its way from Tanda Khanater to Khanater Top when reached at Kallar fell down into a deep gorge with a big bang as its driver lost control over the vehicle. The accident resulted into the on spot death of three passengers and serious injuries to seven other.
After the incident locals of the area informed the police who rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation and shifted the injured to Sub District Hospital Poonch where doctors declared three Mohd Shabir son of Mir Mohd, Zonbina Kouser wife of Bashir Ahmed resident of Duprian Khanater and Mohammad Sharief as brought dead.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the wounds district administration decided to airlift all the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for the specialized treatment and brought injured to the airfield but unfortunately due to the alleged reason of bad weather, the injured waited at airfield for three hours during which one Robin Kouser wife of Mohammad Akbar succumbed to her wounds.
Reports said that after the prolong delay in the arrival of chopper the injured were finally sent to GMC&H Jammu via road over which people showed their resentment and termed it as failure on the part of district and state administration alleging that the weather had turned bad quite late and had the chopper came earlier the injured would have been saved.
The other injured have been identified as Mohammad Khalid son of Mohammad Faiz, Zulfa Bi wife of Mohammad Bashir, Sher Mohammad son of Taj Din, Tasleem Akhtar wife of Mohammad Yaqoob, Fozia Kouser daughter of Mohammad Bashir and Mohammad Bashir son of Sher Mohammad. Police has also registered a case in this regard and has started the investigation top ascertain the actual reason behind the mishap.
