Srinagar, November 25
Pulwama Police Friday claimed to have arrested four workers of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit involved in a bank robbery. Addressing a press conference, SP Pulwama, Rayees Ahmad Bhat said, “The four were involved in looting Rs 14 lakh from a Jammu and Kashmir bank branch in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.”
The top cop said, “Based on specific leads about the incident and the trail left by assailants, Pulwama police meticulously dealt with the clues using tech as well as human sources.”
During this process, he said, the team zeroed in on one Mohd Iqbal Wani resident off Chewakalan.
His arrest and disclosures led to Farooq Ahmad Bhat and Tanveer Alam Wani both resident of Chewakalan. Bhat said that the trio ran a “highly committed and confidential” over ground worker network of Lashkar outfit. “The conspiracy was hatched by Arif Dar alias Abu Haibatullah resident off Lelhar Kakapora, an active local militant of LeT and two foreign origin militants identified by their code names Abu Ali and Abu Ismail,” he said.
“The group used the service of Tanveer Bhat and Raqeeb Rather – both residents of Chewakalan Pulwama – for driving the assailants on 21 Nov 2016.” “Arif Dar of LeT outfit along with the two foreign militants left village Chewakalan along with the above-mentioned group in two vehicles and upon reaching Malpora barged into the bank and looted the cash after keeping the employees at gunpoint.
