50 shops gutted in midnight blaze at Uri in north Kashmir

Feb 24: Dozens of shops were gutted in a mysterious blaze in Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district around last midnight, police said.

SDPO Pattan Sandip Bhat told Greater Kashmir that 42 shops were gutted in the blaze, the cause of which was yet to be ascertained.

Locals, army and officials from Fire and Emergency Services brought the fire into control, but couldn’t save at least 50 shops which were gutted in the fire that erupted around 12:30 am in Uri main market, said a local.
