At one side, just few days back near Diwali;A Surat (Gujarat) based diamond merchant SavjiDholakia, of Hare Krishna Exports, known for his generous Diwali gifts, showered goodies on his employees by handing over keys of over ‘One thousand two hundred cars and about 400 apartments’ to his 1,716 employees.
And on other side, on eve of Diwali PM Modi while addressing the ITBP army jawans, said that as part of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme implementation, the first instalment of Rs 5500 crore has been paid. He said that giving OROP to the ex-servicemen was a promise that he had made, and he was happy that he had been able to fulfil it.
But then again; an ex-serviceman protesting against the anomalies in the ‘One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme’ allegedly committed suicide in New Delhi late Tuesday night. Identified as Ram Kishen Grewal, the former army jawan purportedly left a suicide note saying that he is taking his life due to the delay in meeting the demands of the army veterans. He is reported to have consumed poison in the lawns behind Jawahar Bhawan.
While PM also said that the issue had been pending for “40 years” as certain people in the previous governments “did not know” about OROP (scheme), and therefore “only Rs 500 crore was allocated” for the purpose.
The most unfortunate part of this chapter is ‘Delhi Police today arrested and detained the Jaswantson of deseeded subedar. The family has also alleged that they were manhandled by policemen at the hospital before being brought to the same police station.Beside Congress VP Rahul Gandhi, Delhi’s Dy. CM MunishSosedia was also detained by Delhi Police. However, Rahul Gandhi shouted at Delhi police and said that “Do you have no shame? His father has died, how you can arrest the son of an Army veteran,” he asked a visibly uncomfortable police officer who was trying to explain to the Congress leader why he had been detained.
Rahul Gandhi has been released after being detained at two police stations in the Capital for over 70 minutes. The Congress vice president was detained after he tried to enter a hospital to meet the family of a retired Army man who allegedly committed suicide yesterday night.
It is otherwise no-nonsense to mention here that just before Diwali, earlier Rahul Gandhi Writes to PM Modi, Urges Centre to Implement OROP. Rahul transliterated “As we celebrate Diwali, let us send this message to our soldiers that our gratitude is expressed both in words and in deed.”Coming down heavily on the Centre for hurting the sentiments of India’s Armed Forces, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement the One Rank One Pension (OROP) in a meaningful way, as soldiers should not struggle to claim what is due to them.In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Rahul asserted that decisions taken over the last few weeks by the government have adversely affect the morale of the armed forces, adding that it was the government’s duty to show the soldiers, who risk their lives each day to defend the nation, that they are cared for.
Today also while seated on a chair at the MandirMargMarg police station in the capital where he was detained, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi hit out at policemen for also detaining the son of an Army veteran who committed suicide yesterday.
While, in a suicide note the veteran said he had still not received the increased pension promised to him by the government under its one-rank-one-pension scheme. Then, Mr Gandhi said at the hospital earlier “This is the new India. Recognise it,”as he waited to the meet the veteran’s family. He was detained after he refused to leave at the police’s request. The Congress has called Mr Gandhi’s detention “illegal” and accused the BJP-led central government of using the Delhi Police in an “anti-democratic” move. However, “Police will do what it has to for risk reduction,” said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
At the end, Today at Kashmir; YasinMailk had reached outside Geelani’s house where he was not allowed to meet Syed Ali Shah Geelani, pertinently Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who is under house arrest was also not allowed to come out of his Nigeen residence. As per sources there was meeting to be held between the three this afternoon, however Police didn’t allowed anyone of the three leaders to meet each other. While after a brief lull, Pakistan today yet again violated the ceasefire by targeting forward posts in Mendhar area of Poonch, while Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh termed targeting civilians as violation of the Vienna Convention.”In a fresh act of ceasefire violation after a brief lull, Pakistan today resorted to heavy unprovoked firing in Balakote sector of Mendhar at Poonch,” police sources here said. They said that Pakistan fired small arms and mortars, while own troops effectively retaliated. However, no injury or casulty has been reported so far in the firing.
