Abducted BJP Worker rescued by J&K Police

Police in Wednesday said they have rescued BJP’s Vice President Municipal Committee Watergam Baramulla, Meraj ud Din Malla, who was allegedly abducted by some unknown persons in the north Kashmir district.

“The person has been rescued by police,” Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said. However, he declined to divulge further details.

A police official said that details would be revealed after Malla’s “interrogation”.

Earlier a senior police officer said that Malla was bundled into a vehicle by ‘unknown persons’ while he was walking on a road to meet his friend.

The officer said that searches were launched to trace him. Asked whether the alleged abductors were armed, the officer had said: “It is a matter of investigation.”

Malla had won unopposed from Marazigund (A and B) wards as a BJP candidate.
