ABVP activists block roads, stops DGP vehicle

The activists of ABVP today held a protest demonstration against the Section 144 imposed in the NIT campus Srinagar. The protesting students assembled at near the Fountain Plaza Jammu University  and Moved towards the main gate and raised slogans “Mera Tera NIT , Khoon Bhi dege Jaan bhi Dege Kashmir Ki Mati kabhi na dege, Abvp Zindabaad , Bharat Mata Ki Jai , Vande Matram , Student Power Nation Power. The protestors demanded immediate suspension of the said officials involved in lathicharge on NIT students.

The activists also stopped the DGP’s vehicle when he was passing through the University. However the DGP wanted to had a word but the crowd did not respond and started shouting slogans.

According to sources, ABVP staged protest while going outside the gate they stopped convoy of DGP. The activists asked for the situation and demanded assurance for the action to be taken against the Police officials who were involved in the NIT Kashmiri incident.

The issue of brutality against the non-local students at NIT Srinagar has finally reached the National Human Rights Commission with the plea of Law students of Jammu University. In a petition addressed to the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, the students have asked the Human rights panel to send a fact finding team to NIT Srinagar to interact with the students to find their grievances and for allowing media to enter the NIT Campus. The petitioners have urged the apex rights body to issue appropriate directions to the J & K Government to take strict action against the police officials who used cruel and brute force against non-Kashmiri students.

The  petitioner-students citing threat of security and personal safety of non-local students there at  NIT Srinagar who  have been virtually made state’s prisoners and are confined in the campus without their will and choice have urged the NHRC to ensure their safe return to their homes.  They demanded immediate registrations of FIRs on the statements of the non-kashmiri girls on their allegations of rape threats by the miscreants.

Besides this, the NSUI students also carried out a protest in the university premises shouting slogans against the government
