A large number of activists of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) under the leadership of Hari Singh, Provincial President assembled at Press Club Jammu and staged a massive protest to focus on the following long pending demands.

The demands for which they were staging protests were release pending 5-10 months salary, 4,h & 5 installment arrear of 6 pay commission and DA arrear of teachers/masters working under SSA, release pay arrears of regularized Ret teachers converted from EV w.e.f June-201 3 to Feb-2014, release salary of newly appointed Teachers working against shifted posts w.e.f Jan-2016 to till date in District Kathua and others.

While addressing the protestors, speakers strongly condemn the State Government over the lackadaisical and non serious attitude towards the just & genuine long pending demands of teaching community. It is highly deplorable that the salaries of tepchers are not being released in time and delayed inordinately for months & even years together for defeating the purpose for which these salaries are meant, Moreover when the centre and some State Governments have released the new pay scales recommended by 7* pay commission, certain categories of teachers in oür State are yet to receive the arrear of 6,h pay commission.

USTA condemns the authorities in strongest possible words for not modifying the transfer orders of those Masters who were previously working in far-flung and tedious areas far away from their residences and once again hit by irrational & illogical orders made before the ban on transfers.

Others who address the protestors included Rajeev Kumar, Kanta Jamwal, Dr. Shashi Paul Singh, Roop Lal, Angat Singh, Pardeep Singh, Siraju-Din, Raj Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Balwant Singh, Kishori Lal & Madan Singh, etc.
