ADC Issue Man attempts self-immolation, protest continues

Jammu Tawi, March 21
A man on Wednesday attempted self-immolation bid during the ongoing protest over demand of appointing separate Additional Deputy Commissioner for Nowshera town in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. “One of the protestors poured kerosene on his body and made a  bid to self-immolate,” police here said. They said that policemen on duty acted timely and foiled the bid while the protestor suffered minor burn injuries and was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
People of Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote were demanding separate ADCs for the Tehsils. The protests were intensified after the Government appointed an ADC in Kotranka Tehsil. The locals demanded appointment of separate ADC for all the four Tehsils or declaration of district status by clubbing the four regions. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Government had ordered appointment of two ADCs for two Tehsils each on rotational basis but the exercise was outrightly rejected by the residents of Rajouri district.
