State administration is all set to commence the annual Amarnath yatra on July 2, 2016 and conclude on August 18 (Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan).
Local administration has introduced token system at Sangam Banquet Hall near the Jammu Railway Station for on-the-spot registration for the Amarnath pilgrims. Sadhus who started coming to Jammu to get them registered for the yatra and their stay in different religious buildings and community halls were already arranged by the administration. Their on spot registration was arranged at Ram Mandir (Temple) in Purani Mandi.
Official sources revealed that those pilgrims who have not registered themselves have to get tokens from Sangam Banquet Hall. Tokens will be provided to them according to availability of date for journey; sources said and added that this token system will help the administration to manage chaos at the on-the-spot registration counter.
After getting tokens from Sangam Banquet Hall, pilgrims would have to get registered at the counter allotted to them on the specific time. Vaishnavi Dham and Sarasvati Dham at the Jammu Railway Station and Mahajan Sabha in Shalamar road would be open for on-the-spot registration, sources said.
Total quota of 15,000 pilgrims for the first day, 14,000 had already got registered for the first batch. The first batch would be flagged off from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, on July 1, sources said. Arrangements had been made at Yatri Niwas. The Department of Tourism arranged some cultural events for pilgrims to introduce them to local culture.
Around 10 langars wala took permission from District Administration to installed langars for the pilgrims at different locations in Jammu. District Commissioner, Simrandeep Singh said that all arrangements have been made and we are ready to commence the yatra on June 2, 2016. We have renovated Yatri Niwas and installed sheds for langar and security personnel.
Water and electricity have been ensured and other issues taken into consideration, DC said and added we were already arranged different religious buildings and community halls for Sadhus and their on spot registration was arranged at Ram Mandir (Temple) in Purani Mandi. DC said that security forces have already deployed in all different locations of Jammu to provide foolproof security to Amaranth pilgrims.
