March 15: The cross-LoC trade via Aman Setu (Peace Bridge) route in Uri between two parts of divided Kashmir was suspended on Tuesday due to landslides on the other side of the border, officials said.
Reports said that the highway was closed at Hatya Bala, Chinar Chakoti, and Kohala areas along the Muzaffarabad highway.
“The officials from Muzaffarbad called up saying that the highway was blocked at several places due to landslides,” said Showkat Ahmad Rather, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri.
“It was agreed from both the sides to cancel the trade today and all the traders were informed about the step taken by the authorities,” Rather said.
However, he said that Srinagar-Uri road on this side of LoC was clear.
