After request, govt ‘starts’ investigation against ex minister in land scam

Following the complaint from the supplicant, the Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated investigation against former minister and senior leader of National Conference in ‘land scam’.

According to highly placed sources, the Jammu and Kashmir government has instructed CID to investigate enquiry against the former minister, who is allegedly involved in land scam.

“The supplicant directly lodged his grievances with the governor NN Vohra, who took cognizance of the issue and talked to the chief minister and directed her to take immediate action so that trust of people may not vanish,” said sources, adding the chief minister, soon after getting directions from the governor, ordered CID inquiry into the allegations.

The chief minister-Mehbooba Mufti has taken serious note of the allegation of land scam against ex-minister and senior NC leader.

“The chief minister has also taken serious note against Revenue department and has sought report from them regarding land scam,” said sources.

If sources are to be believed, the chief minister amid ongoing unrest in Kashmir Valley directed CID to unearth the facts behind these allegations, as the person charged with scam happened to be a cabinet minister.

In their complaint, the supplicant alleged that the former minister after misusing his official position had encroached their piece of land and on objection, the minister threatened them of dire consequences.

Earlier also the government have taken serious note against senior leaders of BJP and Congress for encouraging corruption.

Senior Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Taj Mohiuddin has been booked in an alleged land scam case, with State Vigilance Organisation claiming that revenue records were “tampered with” and “fake records” prepared to benefit him.

Some officials of the Revenue Department were also booked along with Mohiuddin, who had served as a Minister in the coalition government led by late PDP leader Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed in 2002 and then in the government of National Conference in 2009.

Similarly, the matter of BJP minister-Abul Gani Kohli is also sub judicious, wherein he has been accused of encroaching state land.
