Akashwani should be the only name

Dear Editor,
It is improper to have two different names for the official public-broadcaster as Akashwani and All India Radio. Otherwise also, it is not proper to have English version of a proper noun Akashwani. Official public-broadcaster in India should be known by one single name Akashwani like official electronic-media is known simply by a singular name Doordarshan including in its English telecasts. Akashvani should use only Hindi words in its news-bulletins to develop Hindi vocabulary of non-Hindi persons by avoiding words of other languages in name of ‘commonly used’ words. Listeners will fast adopt the vocabulary like they became used to name Doordarshan once it was adopted as the only and universal name for official Television-channel.Current-affairs talk in Hindi Samayaki should be given important time-place just after the main Hindi news-bulletin in the manner “Spotlight” is relayed after main English bulletin, which can be best done by advancing Hindi bulletin at 8 pm from present 8.45 pm. Samayaki then can be placed at 8.15 pm leaving time-slot between 8.30 pm to 9 pm for programmes like Radio Newsreel, Today in Parliament etc and their respective Hindi versions. “News-Sameeksha” should be revived for listeners’ comments on programmes produced by AIR News Services Division on Sundays at 8.30 pm.
