Amarnath Yatra suspended for few hours at Ramban due to landslides

Ramban, July 13

Amarnath Yatra suspended for hours near Ramban due to landslides at Panthaal area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at early morning.
The landslides were triggered by incessant rains in Ramban district, police said here, adding that the yatra has been suspended for few hours till the highway is restored for traffic.
After two hours authorities of Traffic Department and local Police were succeeded to restore the traffic from Jakhani Chowk. It is also reported that land slide area from Panthaal was not through for traffic till afternoon.
The over 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar highway is the lifeline of supplies for the landlocked Kashmir Valley and the only surface link for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims to reach the valley.
