Putting end to the rumours regarding presence of militants across borders ‘awaiting infiltration’, army today clarified that there are no such reports and ‘these are sheer rumours, which are creating panic among people across nation.’ Talking to Newspoint, Defence PRO, Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said, “I don’t know who is spreading this type of rumours regarding presence of militants across the border waiting for infiltration,” added that such rumours create fear among the citizens. He appealed the media to not believe in the ‘grapevine’ hearsay.
Earlier, it was reported that around 50 militants across border are hiding at an area which is 200 kms from international border from Kathua to Akhnoor sector in Jammu and waiting for an opportunity to sneak into Indian soil through Jammu borders.
Already security forces eliminated at least 10 dreaded terrorists in Lachhipora area in Uri sector few days ago after an attack on an Army camp killed 18 soldiers and injured 19 others.
Officials said that Army is vigil and intensified its patrolling along the borders and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir to foil any infiltration bid from Pakistan.
Army appealed for calm, and assured that the Indian Army was committed to protect the territorial integrity of the country.
“We are your Army. We are doing work for the safety and security of our nation. Any violation of territorial integrity, any attempt of infiltration will never be accepted by us,” PRO said. “We are prepared for all these challenges. This is our task. This is our role. Have faith in us,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that rumours are rife regarding Indian action against Pakistan,
following Uri army base camp attack by the Pakistan sponsored terrorists, which left 18 soldiers dead and several injured.
