New Delhi: Union minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said that people in India should have no problem in chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
While interacting with mediaperson on the second and the last day of the BJP’s National Executive meet in New Delhi, Jaitley said that his party believes there should be no debate on this issue.
“Constitution of India allows complete freedom to dissent but does not permit destruction of the nation. We believe this is one issue on which there should be no debate. People in India should have absolutely no difficulty as far as this slogan is concerned, best example you saw at Eden Gardens yesterday,” said Jaitley.
“Ideology of nationalism guides our belief and direction, we completely support freedom of expression,” added Jaitley.
On forthcoming Assembly polls:
Jaitley said that BJP is in a very strong position in Assam and will form the government there.
“BJP alliance is prominent in Assam. Our membership has increased in Kerala and we bring change there. We increased vote share in last polls in West Bengal. We will improve it this time also,” said Jaitley.
J&K government formation:
Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir in Jammu and Kashmir, Jaitley said that BJP is still committed to the agenda of governance in the state.
While answering a question about the political crisis in Uttarakhand, Jaitley attributed the present political turmoil to Congress itself. He said that the party MLAs were not happy with their own leadership.
“It’s Congress’ internal crisis. Their own leaders were not happy. If maximum MLA’s vote against finance bill how can it pass in the Assembly. For the first time, the Assembly has passed a failed bill. It is a unique constitutional situation that Speakers passed the failed bill in Uttarakhand.”
Congress has become tailender in alliances now:
Jaitley also targeted Congress for its alliance with regional parties in a desperation to built an anti-BJP alliance in five states, where Assembly polls are due this summer.
“Look at Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Congress has lowered its level of ambition. They have become tailenders of the alliance in all these states,” said Jaitley.
