Anti-encroachment drive launched

An anti-encroachment drive was launched at Samba under the supervision of team led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Wasim Raja Khan. The drive was in continuation to earlier drive which was launched few days ago and focused on Main Chowk Samba and nearby service lanes.
The rehris along the National Highway were removed and abandoned /idle rehris were confiscated as they were placed there with sole purpose of occupying space. The team sought cooperation from all shopkeepers by stopping encroachment through placement of their merchandise and advertisement outside shops as it will ease congestion on the roads.
Others who were present during the drive were Tehsildar Samba R.K Rathore, Station House Officer (SHO) Samba, EO Municipal committee Samba and other officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that a number of fatal accidents have taken place at Main Chowk, Samba in which many precious lives have been lost and many have been seriously injured and one of the factors behind these accidents is believed to be encroachments along the highway and service lanes.
