APHCC asks BJP legislators to pass Shrine Bill in ensuing Assembly session

The All Party Hindu Co-ordination Committee (APHCC) on Tuesday asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators to raise and pass the Hindu Shrines Bill during the ongoing Assembly session in Srinagar and threatened to launch an agitation if it is not done.
It is pertinent to mention here that APHCC members Vinod Pandit and Sunita Sharma had sat on hunger strike for 11 days in October 2011 which was called off by assurance of Congress leader R.S Chib who had assured to pass the Bill in the State Assembly. “APHCC members had staged hunger strike demanding passage of J&K Hindu Shrines and Religious Places (Management and Regulation) Bill in October 2011 in which BJP leaders also extended support for the same,” said Rajiv Mahajan, spokesperson of the Committee and State President, Shri Ram Sena, in a meeting held here today.
Then BJP State President Shemsher Singh Manhas, BJP leaders Dr Jitendra Singh and Ashok Khajuira and Dr. Ramakant Dubey, President VHP, J&K also joined the protestors to show solidarity with Vinod Pandit and Sunita Sharma in their struggle to achieve the desired goals. However, he said, now 25 BJP MLAs are in State Assembly so they will forcibly raise the voice for passage of Bill in ensuing Assembly session.
“If they fail to pass the Bill in this session then we will be forced to launch an agitation in the Jammu,” said Rajiv Mahajan. “In the absence of any institutional mechanism for the preservation of the temples and shrines in Jammu and Kashmir, the land mafia is free to indulge in the annexation of the said properties with impunity and without fear of law,” he added.
He said that the APHCC has demanded the State Government to pass the J&K Hindu Shrines and Religious Places (Management and Regulation) Bill in this session on the Pattern of State Gurudwara Prabandhak Board. He said that that these temples and shrines were the symbols of religious beliefs and need to be protected.
