Army Jawan Arrested For Allegedly Passing Secret Information to Pakistan’s ISI

Haryana Police on Thursday arrested an Army jawan for giving confidential information to Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Police said that based on intelligence, Rohit Kumar was arrested on Wednesday. He said that Kumar is a resident of Kodwa Khurd village in the Narayangarh area of ​​Ambala district and is working as a Havildar in the Army’s Engineering Regiment.

 

Kumar is currently posted in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Superintendent of Police Hamid Akhtar said that Kumar had come to the village on leave a few days ago. He said that based on the intelligence received about Kumar, he was taken into custody. The superintendent of police said that during interrogation, it was found that he is in touch with a Pakistani agent and is sharing confidential information and photographs with the Pakistani intelligence agency.

 

Two mobile phones of Kumar have been seized through which he used to share information, they said. Akhtar said that the police would conduct a detailed investigation of the mobile phone. He said that Kumar had joined the army in 2012 and has been involved in espionage since 2018.

 

During interrogation, Kumar admitted that he had shared some information with the Pakistani intelligence agency. As a result, a case has been registered against Kumar under the Official Secrets Act, he said. Kumar was produced before the court on Thursday evening, from where he was remanded in police custody for seven days.
