Army organises cleanliness drive at Palma

Army on Sunday organised a cleanliness drive with enthusiastic participation of locals at the Palma in Rajouri district park as part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, today in coordination with ‘GOONJ’ a New Delhi based NGO.
The initiative is in continuation of concerted effort by the Army to bring in a wholesome shift in the society towards cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation by enhancing awareness and participation of the locals of this area. The campaign involved cleaning the Palma Environmental Park, a popular picnic spot visited by numerous visitors of all age groups on daily basis.
The villagers worked shoulder to shoulder with the Army soldiers to clean this public area thereby exhibiting a sense of social responsibility and ownership of the asset.
The NGO also presented hampers containing clothing, books for the children, toys and other utility articles to the needy families of Palma village who participated in the drive.
The event witnessed a large gathering of enthusiastic people to make it a success.
Army on its part thanked the people for making the campaign a success and also requested them to continue with the good work of cleanliness in the area.
The gathering expressed their sincere gratitude to the Army for its relentless efforts towards preservation of peace and development of the area.
