Army organises Gwari Premier League Cricket Tournament

To promote local sporting talent, a Gwari Premier League Cricket Tournament was conducted by unit based at Sohanda in coordination with Youth Club Bhallesa Cricket Committee wef 20 Apr to 20 May 2016 at Gwari. Cricket has huge fan following in the region. It was an opportunity provided to the youth of the local area to display their sporting talent and bolster their self confidence. 114 Teams participated in Tournament. The Tournament was inaugurated by Shri Iqbal Batt (Local Leader). Approximately 30 Ex/ present Ranji players have played in the tournament. The final match was played between Youth Club Bhallessa and Faribiya Club Bhallessa. Youth Club Bhallessa was winner in the final & lifted the trophy.
The event was graced by Commander from Rashtriya Rifles as its Chief Guest and Commanding Officer Rashtriya Rifles alongwith officials from civil administration, Sarpanch’s and prominent personalities to include SDM Gundoh, Shri Dalmeer Hussain, SDPO Gundoh, Shri BK Ganju and SHO Gundoh, Tariq Hussain. The final match was witnessed by more than 2,500 people.
The Winning team was awarded with a Trophy and Rs 40,000/- and the Runners Up Team was awarded with a Trophy and Rs 20,000/-. Outstanding players were awarded individual prizes and medals towards appreciation for their skill and enthusiasm.
The youth of the area have wholeheartedly supported and participated in the Tournament. The locals has requested the Army to continue conducting such popular events in future to further strengthen the sense of belongingness and spirit in the youth.
