Army porter killed in Pak ceasefire violation in Uri sector

Srinagar, April 16

An Army porter was killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Monday morning.

Official sources said that Pakistani troops at around 1030 hrs on Monday violated ceasefire at Chaukas area in Uri sector by resorting to unprovoked firing. “A porter, identified as Khursheed Ahmad, received bullet injuries in his neck and also received splinters in both his legs, resulting in his on the spot death,” they said.

“Ahmad was working as a porter with 4 Madras unit of the Army,” they added.

However, defence ministry spokesperson was not available to confirm the incident.
