Bhaderwah, October 21
An awareness programme on road safety for drivers and common people was organized by Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) of Doda in the premises of new bus stand Kotli, Bhaderwah where ARTO also holds driving tests for cars and bikes (light motor vehicles).
Talking to this media person ARTO Doda Azhar Amin informed that the ARTO Office is going to start home delivery of driving license by speed post for which the applicant should deposit a self addressed envelope with the office at the time of deposition of license fee before taking the trail test. This is being done to minimize the frequent visits of the license seekers to the office ARTO added.”Some advanced features have been introduced in the new track of driving testing to judge the driving skills of applicants, ARTO Azhar Ali said.”Shifting of driving test for cars on advanced track was under consideration for last many months. We are hoping that actual implementation would start soon,” he said.
Presently, driving tests are conducted by RTO inspectors on a simple track. The inspector asks an applicant to drive a car to check his/her skills. There is hardly any use of automation or computer based programmes in the existing format to capture minor details.Officials in the RTO said the test would be slightly tougher than the existing one. “Those failing the test will have to reappear for it. The applicants should understand that they would get a licence only if they have basic skills of driving,” he said. ARTO Doda also informed that driving test for bikes and other light vehicles will now also conduct in Bhaderwah each week on Wednesday or Thursday.
