ASHA Workers apprise Mission Director NHM their demands

A thirty member’s deputation of ASHA Workers Union Jammu affiliated with CITU led by Sham Prasad Kesar senior leader of CITU met Mission Director, Nation Health Mission Nagrota- Jammu and put forth a Charter of Demandsfor their early redressal. The demands includes NHM should be made permanent health programme, ASHA workers be regularised as Health worker, paid minimum wages of Rs. 18000/= until this is implemented ASHA workers be paid fixed monthly amount in addition to their incentives, Asha workers should be covered under Aam Admi Bima Yojna like Anganwadi workers, they should get all social security benefits like pension, gratuity, meternity benefits as recommended by 45th Indian Labour conference, their harassment be curbed, provide rest rooms in all Health Centres, should be given uniforms, ID Cards, bus passes, BPL Cards etc., payment on accounts of janani suraksha yojna, postnatal check up, immununization, vaccine carrier, assured incentives, monthly registration of birth and death, list of eligible couples, list of ANC beneficiaries, TA and DA of monthly meetings, they may not be forced to do other jobs/assignments in addition to their own work like gate duties etc.
The mission director gave a patience hearing to the deputation and assured that the demands within his competency would be considered favorably and others not in his competency would be forwarded to the authorities concerned.
The deputation comprised of Sunita Bhagat (President), Anita Devi (Gen. Sec.), Jagdish Raj Sharma (Secretary CITU), Jia Lal Parihar, Rita Devi, Surinder Kaur, Hardeep Kaur, Mohinder Kumari etc Senior leaders of the union.
