Director SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion, which has taken the box office by storm in India, is also making a mark in the international markets. The film has raked in a whopping $8 million (approx Rs 53+ crore) from more than 1,000 screens in North America. According to the early estimates, the VFX-heavy film is expected to end the first weekend in the region, with a little over $9 million (Rs 59 crore) in its kitty, surpassing the lifetime collection of its predecessor, Baahubali: The Beginning.

Earlier in the statement, the distributor had said that the film earned in Rs 19 crore just in advance booking. “We are proud to announce that advance ticket sales have already eclipsed the highest grossing Indian film (of any language) on opening day. We have passed $3 million ( approx Rs 19 crore) in pre-sales and are adding almost $100,000 to this total very hour,” it added. The film has been released in 425 theatres with over 1100 screens in North America alone. Of which more than 45 screens will show the film in IMAX format and 50 will show the magnum opus on large format. Baahubali 2 is also set to beat the lifetime collection of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which made $12.4 million (Rs 82+ crore) at the US box office. Not just North America, the film is also keeping the cash registers ringing at the box office in Australia and New Zealand, among other international markets. In a rare feat, the film is also playing in theatres in Russia. In a series of tweets, trade pundit Taran Adarsh provided box office breakup of Baahubali 2 in Australia and New Zealand. “The *Hindi version* of #Baahubali2 is all set to cross *opening weekend* biz of #Dangal [A$ 735,755] in Australia… SENSATIONAL…#Baahubali2 – AUSTRALIA – Hindi version: Fri A$ 211,996, Sat A$ 325,678. Total: A$ 537,674 [? 2.59 cr]. TERRIFIC! (sic),” he wrote on his Twitter page. “In New Zealand, #Baahubali2 *Hindi version* has overtaken *opening weekend* biz of #Dangal [NZ$ 188,732] on Sat itself… AMAZING…#Baahubali2 – NEW ZEALAND – Hindi version: Fri NZ$ 84,782, Sat NZ$ 115,398. Meanwhile Baahubali 2 box office collection day 1: SS Rajamouli film shatters records, earns Rs 217 cr worldwide Baahubali 2 not only opened on a record 6500 screens across the nation, it also ensured the enviable houseful boards came up everywhere. CEO of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Apoorva Mehta tweeted, “Smashing records like killing enemies in that war sequence!! In fact, the highest opening of 2017 has been Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees which earned Rs 20.42 crore on day of its release. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala wrote, “#Baahubali2 Day 1 WW BO: Nett – ? 121 cr. Gross – ? 152 cr. Overseas – ? 65 cr. WW Total – ? 217 cr” Not just in India, Baahubali 2 was number one Indian film ever in the US, Australia and UAE. Baahubali, a follow-up to the blockbuster 2015 films, is doing even stronger business and could earn $7.2 million from only 450 locations, including more than $2 million Thursday night. if it hits $7 million, that would likely be a record for an Indian title, said Hollywood Reporter. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh earlier wrote, “Reports pouring in from across the country: #Baahubali2 is a GAME CHANGER… Sea of people outside theatres… House Full boards are back!” Ramesh Bala tweeted, “A True Indian Epic Movie of International Standards. Screenplay, Acting, Emotions, Action Seqs & Music – Outstanding.” Bookmyshow has said that 12 tickets of Baahubali 2 are being sold every second. In Delhi, the earliest you can book tickets for the film is May 3 with everything going houseful for the next four days. Though Baahubali 2 is largely perceived to be loved by South Indian audience, the response from Hindi speaking markets has been highly encouraging as well. Once all the cinemas in South come out with their schedules for the film, we expect the online ticket sales for Baahubali 2 to surge at an increasingly fast pace.”
The Conclusion is bigger, but not better Film distributor Akshay Rathi told indianexpress.com that it wouldn’t be a shocker if the film crosses Rs 200 crore club within three days of its release. He said, “Day one across languages, I wouldn’t be surprised if the film rakes in Rs 70 crore on the first day itself. As far as the weekend is concerned, the film across the languages within India would do around the business of net amount of Rs 230 + crores.” Celebrities from South and even Bollywood are totally overwhelmed by the film. Dhanush wrote to SS Rajamouli on social media, “Sir 🙂 nothing more to say. #masterpiece #writingatitsbest .. break the rules. Redefined everything.” Nani wrote, “#Baahubali is not just a film anymore .. It’s a celebration.” While in India, Baahubali 2 has become the first one to have a massive release on 6500 screens in all languages, it is releasing on almost 2500 screens outside India. In North America alone, the film has released on 1,100 screens and the distributor Great India Films is expecting a lifetime total of $15 million. “We have passed $3 million in pre-sales and are adding almost $100,000 to the total every hour. This is the highest for an Indian film in advance ticket sales,” a statement from Great India Films read. The film, that release on April 28, stars Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Sathyaraj in lead roles.
