Baisakhi celebrated with fervor, gaiety

Khalsa Sajna Divas ‘Baisaakhi’ on Thursday celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety at Gurudwaras Yaadgaar Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar Jammu in which thousands of devotees across the state took part to take the blessings of Guru Sahib. Former CM, J&K, Dr. Farooq Abdullah also greeted the Sangat on the occasion. He also distributed prizes to the winners of First Virasat-e-Khalsa Gatka competition held on April 9 in Gurudwara premises. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal also pay his obeisance during the Samagam. Speaking on the occasion, Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary, DGPC welcomed the USA government’s decision to declare Sikh Festival, Baisakhi, as ‘The Sikh National Day’ in tribute to Sikhism. While chairman State Gurudwara Prabandhak Board, T.S. Wazir congratulated the winners of Gatka Mukabla and presented the Traditional Siropa’s to all the dignitaries as a token of love and regard.
Eminent Sikh preachers and Ragis including Bhai Ranjeet Singh (Gurudwara Bangla Shahib, Delhi), Bhai Rai Singh (Darbaar Sahib, Amritsar) and Giani Jagtaar Singh (head Granthi, Darbaar Sahib, Amritsar) highlight the teachings and principles of tenth Sikh Guru Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh while many other Ragi Jathas from local Gurudwaras also took part in the Samagam and enthralled the devotees by reciting Shabads from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (SGGS). Langar was also served
to the devotees.
