Bandh in 10 Bhilwadi villages to protest against rape, murder of minor

To protest against rape and murder of minor girl, 10 villages in Sangli observed a spontaneous bandh today. The incident occurred yesterday evening, as the body of a student girl of secondary school of junior college in eighth class was found in a sugarcane field. Bhilwadi police team rushed to the spot and after primarily investigation, police team found that the girl was raped by three to four unidentified people and then murdered. They then dumped the body in a nearby sugarcane field. The villagers which are in bandh are Bhilwadi, Ankalkhop, Malwadi, Dhangaon and others. Daily business activities, including hotels, shops, vegetable markets were closed in all these villages. Education institutions including primary and high schools also remained closed. Taking into consideration its seriousness, district Superintendent of Police Dattatrya Shinde, three DYSP and other top police officers visited Bhilwadi village yesterday and took stock of the situation. A three suspected accused have been detained for investigation early this morning, police informed. However, the police administration has denied a news circulated on social media since last night that the police have arrested four people in this regard and made it cleared that no one was arrested so far.
