People from various areas of Bandipora town Saturday staged massive protest against unscheduled power cuts prevailing almost in the whole township.
Protesters from around ten wards of the town carrying electric meters marched from Gulshan Chowk and staged protest at Nowpora Chowk against the deepening power crisis.
People from Sheikh Mohalla, Nishat Mohalla, Bon Bazar and other areas staged protest against the Power Development Department (PDD).
Raising slogans against PDD they said,”PDD is resorting to unscheduled power cuts even in the metered areas. We are facing immense inconvenience due to erratic power supply.”
“Bandipora is getting a step-motherly treatment. Unscheduled power cuts are annoying. We pay electricity fee on time and still PDD resorts to unscheduled power cuts,” Nisar Ahmed, a protestor told Rising Kashmir.
However officers of PDD Bandipora accompanied by SHO Bandipora Sayed Gazenfer while pacifying the protesting people said that power curtailment is being properly regulated.
