March 21:The 110-Km Batote-Kishtwar highway was restored for traffic today after remaining closed for four days due to landslides and shooting stones triggered by heavy rains.

The NH1B, which is the only road link connecting twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar with rest of the state, was thrown open for one-way vehicular traffic this morning, a senior police officer said.

The highway was closed since Thursday due to repeated landslides and shooting stones triggered by heavy rain during last three days at Ragi-Nullah area and six other places in the Doda district.

“The highway has been reopened for vehicular traffic after clearance of the landslides,” said SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas.

“Doda district administration had carried out extensive restoration exercise for various roads hit by landslides leading to blockades and traffic jam.”
