BC Road, a nightmare for commuters

While as the transporters have turned BC Road as ‘temporary bus stand’, resulting into traffic congestion, the concerned department has turned blind eye towards it, causing huge inconvenience to the commuters.
Under the nose of the divisional and the district administration Jammu, a ‘traffic mess’ has been created right from Bakshi Nagar crossing up to Jewel Chowk but the people those at the helm of affairs have turned a blind eye toward this mess.
Even the Traffic Police Jammu and the Regional Transport Authorities have never bothered to clear this bottle-neck and provide relief to the general public.
However, the administration has constructed Bus Stand for the banihal route and Katra-Reasi buses at Khanpur near Nagrota byepass had not been made functional till date, while the BC Road near Jammu Bus Stand converted into undeclared Bus stand, Mini-Bus and Taxi/ Sumo Stand for Jammu-Srinagar, Rajouri-Poonch and Doda-Kishtwar routes vehicles. After announcement of construction work of new Multistory parking for Bus Stand by government, the administration has removed buses inside the stand and claimed to shift them at Narwal byepass but actual position is that these buses can be seen outside the stand, creating traffic mess. In the evening, the Video Coach buses for Delhi-Chandigarh and other locations operate from BC Road only and Administration never bothered for the creation of additional bus stand for the purpose and minimise traffic load on this area.
It is surprising that on the eve of Republic Day and Independence Day, the entire BC Road area is cleared by the Traffic and local Police authorities for the `so called’ security reasons and free movement of the VIP vehicles but after that, keeping this road clear for smooth flow of traffic is nobody’s priority.
“Announcement made by government for construction of Multistory parking in Bus Stand the buses removed from inside the bus stand but no situation change in outside the bus stand as we seen every time traffic congestion on the road,” said Romesh Tak, President Association of Traders General Bus Stand adding the administration should concern this problem so that general public get relief from this traffic congestion on BC Road.
