Bhagat asks farmers to avail benefits of technical advisories

MLA Khour, Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat today exhorted upon the farmers to avail the benefits of technical advisories and inputs provided by the Agriculture Department for sustainable development of agriculture.
The MLA was addressing a programme organized in connection with Farmers Field Day at village Panjtoot (Pallanwalla) today. The programme was organized by Agriculture Department and Dr Bhagat was the chief guest on the occasion.
He said holding of Farmers Field Day and other agriculture camps in the border belt will go a long way in educating the farmers of latest technical know how which can boost the production and improve their economy. He said this way farmers will come to know of various schemes for their overall benefit.
He appealed the farmers to adopt these schemes in their fields to boost both Kharief and Rabi production.
The programme was presided over by the Director Agriculture, Jammu Dr S S Jamwal who directed the officers to work with concerted efforts for solving field related problems of farmers by helping them in increasing production of various crops keeping in view the demand and market trends and pouring more in the national food bowl.
R L Bhagat Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu assured the farmers of providing full technical guidance and putting sincere efforts to solve their problems.
Prof K C Bahgat renowned entomologist educated the farmers about integrated pest management and advised them for judicious use of pesticides for controlling insect pests. Prof V S Verma, crop disease expert warned the farmers about likelihood of yellow rust disease. The Field Day was organized under the supervision of Vinod Ganjoo, district Agriculture Officer (Extension) Jammu.
Meanwhile two days training programme on integrated schemes palm and maize was organized by Department of Agriculture here. The camp which started yesterday concluded today. The programme was formally inaugurated by Joint Director, Agriculture Bipin Sambyal and it was presided over by A K Malhotra, Director Command Area Development Jammu.
