Commander Bhimber Gali Brigade dedicated two Community Centres constructed under the Sadbhavna initiative in border villages of Chhapardhara and Bharuti of Balakote Mendhar.
The state of the art community centres have fulfilled the demand of villagers to host central social and religious functions. Shafat Sultan, Director Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency was also present on the occasion and as part of joint initiatives with Indian Army, distributed over 100 Energy Efficient Bio-Mass Stoves to the needy villagers. In addition, Director JAKEDA announced that over 100 Solar Lights will also be provided to the residents in the coming weeks.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander Bhimber Gali Brigade, reiterated the commitment of the Indian Army to ensure overall development of these villages through joint initiatives undertaken in conjunction with civil administration since December 2015.
He mentioned that a number of projects to include construction of Check Dams for irrigation, provisioning of polyhouses for growing vegetables, Vermi-compost units, construction of roads and tracks had already started in the area with active support of the District Administration.
It is pertinent to mention that and Shri Haroon Malik, DC Poonch accompanied by various department heads had conducted day long survey of all forward areas on 27 December 2015 and decided on joint initiates to address the development issues.
The villagers profusely thanked the Indian Army and Civil Administration and expressed their hope that the complete area will get due attention in view of their joint initiatives to address the long pending demands of these villages.
