On a day when voting took place in the state for first phase of elections on 49 seats, Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav made a comment which may make the Grand Alliance very uncomfortable.

The SP chief said on Monday that the wave was in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party and that the saffron party was going to form the next government in Bihar.

Mulayam also said that he was appreciative of the good work that the BJP was doing.

Yesterday, in Bhabhua, Mulayam had accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of having deceived Lalu Prasad into forging an alliance between them, and had expressed bewilderment at the RJD supremo falling into the JD(U) leader’s trap despite being convicted in the fodder scam cases pursued by Kumar’s men.

Describing Kumar to be a ‘fraud’, Yadav had said the JD(U) leader ended up cheating despite initially making moves to bring the disparate Janata Parivar constituents under one banner, in an apparent reference to meagre five seats offered by the secular alliance to his party for the Bihar assembly polls which led to the party’s exit.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a blistering attack against rivals Nitish and Lalu over a sting video of a senior JD(U) minister allegedly accepting bribe, saying they have “no shame” and accused them of “insulting” JP’s legacy of fighting corruption.

Addressing back-to-back election rallies in Jehanabad and Bhabhua, Modi said leaders of the grand alliance are “scared” and flayed them for approaching Election Commission to halt the live telecast of his meetings today, when the first phase of the assembly poll is underway, as per PTI.

In a huge embarrassment for the Nitish Kumar government, just a day before the first phase of polls, a sting video surfaced yesterday showing senior minister Awadhesh Prasad Kushwaha purportedly accepting bribe after which he had to resign.
