Jammu Tawi, July 12
Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Wednesday said that the attack on Amarnath pilgrims is an assault on the entire nation and the government, and it is high time that such dastardly incidents are given a befitting reply. He said the attack is a fresh proof that the surgical strike against the neighbouring country and the demonetization move yielded no results. “A permanent cure has to be found against Pakistan and its terrorist activities,” the former Minister said. He said the Centre should give a strong reply to the terror attack and refrain from merely engaging in lip service. He stated this while interacting prominent persons of Gandhi Nagar constituency.Former Minister maintained that for the past 3 years or so, governance in India has come to standstill. The economy is floundering; prices escalating daily; terrorists attacking and imperiling the life and limb of innocent civilians routinely; Maoist threats proliferating through the veins and arteries of India; our entire neighbourhood turbulent, but in response to all these challenges the NDA stops governing. Similarly there were specific inputs by intelligence agencies of a terror threat to the Amarnath yatra this year. Then why is there so much anger within BJP and the government if legitimate questions are being raised now? Attacking UPA on terror and terming Singh as a weak PM was a signature BJP tune for many years in the pre-Modi era. The situation in Kashmir remains tense with no signs of improvement and opposition leaders have every right to demand accountability from the BJP-led-government just like Modi did in the past.Taking dig at BJP, Bhalla said that three year after assuming power at the Centre, the BJP’s popularity graph seems to have dropped significantly in Jammu and Kashmir, courtesy the party’s “stoic silence” on contentious and Jammu-specific issues. This is evident from the shut down against the govt. It was largely an “expression of anguish” against the BJP, which had always projected itself to be a champion of Jammu’s cause. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include Sohan Singh, Sarpanch Kashmir Singh, Naib Sarpanch Satnam Singh, Panch Gurnam Singh, Ghulam Farid, Rajinder Singh Lamardhar, Dr. Vijay, Sanjeev Katal, Puran Chand beside others.
