Leveling serious allegations against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its informal merger with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pawan Gupta, independent MLA from Udhampur and former MoS from BJP, said that party has informally merged itself with PDP for the sake of powers and has sold out’ mandate of Jammu region.

He said that the BJP has surrendered its core ideology for the sake of power and has lost its ground in the Jammu and termed it as a threat to democracy and security of the state besides prayed to almighty for granting them wisdom. He said that BJP has become entirely a different unit of sycophants and intellectually bankrupt people, who for sake of power have shifted their stand and years old ideology.

Gupta lauded that in ensuing budget session he will sit on the opposition benches and will raise his voice against the saffron parties ‘forgotten’ role by becoming voice of Jammu.

Gupta uttered that after winning election independently the top BJP leadership including party’s national vice-president and general secretary had begged before him to join them so that they could use his vote for BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidates and he had supported the party because of his DNA as his father had spent his entire life in the service of this saffron party, not because of any voracity.

“Even the cunning BJP leadership had showed its true face soon by giving me MoS status instead of promised Cabinet birth but it was not an concern for me since I never demanded anything from them”, he said. He further said that the silence maintained by BJP over the NIT issue was a visible proof of its merger with PDP besides shifting from the years old ideology laid by the Jan Sangh as on one hand they provoked everyone to host tricolor at educational institutes and other establishments and when it was unfurl by the NIT students at Srinagar, they were beaten mercilessly by the police over which BJP leadership remained tight lipped like PDP.

“BJP has made fun of the tricolor as to patriotically black mail the public, its leader use to take out marches holding tricolor in hands to host it in Kashmir from different corners of the country. This is nothing except a gimmick to preserve their image of nationalist party, but it has made fun of our tricolor”, he added.  He expressed that whether it’s issue of levying service tax on the helicopter service or the issue of Hindu Chief Minister, BJP has totally failed and has multiplied the discrimination which was being meted with Jammu region.

Gupta pointed out that earlier BJP racked up issues like sovereignty, delimitation, revoking Article 370, return of Kashmir Pandits, PoK Refugees issues but now they talk about demilitarization, removing bunkers, strengthening special status, handing over defense land which are the core ideology issues of PDP and are demoralizing the armed forces.

“To please PDP, it (BJP) has agreed for removal of bunkers amidst its own statements of non conducive atmosphere for holding elections and even several cases have been registered against security forces in Kashmir without any inquiry which is ultimately demoralization of our security forces.

He said, “BJP, which got 25 seats from Jammu region shift its focus to Kashmir region, like another national party as appeasement policy and sideline national interests and people of Jammu region”.

He further said that replacement of barter LoC trade with banks by the state government will help in easy flow of Hawala money and fake currency from Pakistan while its softness towards the Hurriyat and other separatists who have even intensified their anti-national activities after its regime has shown its (BJP) inner intensions.

On being asked why he not opposed BJP while in government, he said that he was MoS not a cabinet minister and was bound with the oath of office and secrecy. But he always pointed out the wrongdoings of BJP leadership time and again owning to which he had become a hurdle for them and was sacked of ministry.
