BJP’s foundation is based on lies: Rahul Gandhi

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday came out all guns blazing against the BJP and said the party’s foundation was based on lies.
“Whether you look at the Modi Model or the promise of Rs 15 lakhs in every bank account, demonetisation or Gabbar Singh Tax… everything is a lie,” Rahul told reporters after chairing his first Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting as the party president. Dubbing the much touted Modi Model as a falsehood, the Gandhi scion alleged that the saffron party was openly looting the people of Gujarat in the name of development.
“The whole architecture of BJP is about lies, the whole structure is about lies. Modi Model in Gujarat was a lie. When we spoke to the people, they said there’s no model, what’s going on is that the BJP is stealing there resources,” he charged. Rahul once again questioned PM Modi’s silence on allegations of financial irregularities against BJP chief Amit Shah’s son+ and the Congress charges on the Rafale aircraft deal.
“One by one, BJP’s lies are coming out. First: Amit Shah’s son, who converted Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore in 3 months. PM has nothing to say about it. Second: the Rafale deal is altered, one industrialist reaps all the benefits. We asked PM Modi 3 questions, but he wasn’t able to answer a single one,” he said. Touching upon the 2G case verdict, Rahul said the alleged scam surrounding the UPA-era policy was a fabrication by the NDA.
“Everyone knows about 2G, the truth has come out on front of you,” he declared. Rahul today chaired his first CWC meeting after being elected unopposed as the Congress chief on December 11.
His mother and predecessor Sonia Gandhi was also present at the meeting taking place in New Delhi.
Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, senior party leaders Motilal Vora, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Janardan Dwivedi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Karan Singh, Anand Sharma, Mohsina Kidwai, Ambika Soni, CP Joshi, Kamal Nath, BK Hariprasad and Oscar Fernandes were also in attendance at the meeting, along with party in-charges for various states. The agenda for the meeting was not officially disclosed.
