Another BSF jawan today attain martyrdom while retaliating to the Pakistani shelling along the International Border (IB) in the R S Pura sector while ten civilians sustained grievous splinter injuries besides huge live stock got perished.
At about 5:00 pm in the evening Pakistani army also resorted to ceasefire violation along the LoC in Mendhar, Balakot sectors of Poonch and Tarkundi area of Rajouri by opening automatic weapon fire and pounding mortars targeting forward posts and residential areas. The unprecedented shelling by Pak along the IB also forced the district administration Samba to evacuate people from the border villages that were sent to the safer places. Reports said that more than dozen villages were evacuated last night and the people were sent to their relative homes as no advance arrangements were made by the administration.
The ceasefire which was again violated by the Pak rangers at about 8:30 last night in the Arnia sub sector of R S Pura swelled to entire region as all the border villages including Flora, Sai, Abdullain, Bidipur,
Korotana Kurd, Suchetgarh, Gopar Basti etc remained under night long heavy shelling which continue till 10 in the morning. Reports said that about 15 BOPs were targeted last night in the R S Pura by the Pak rangers with 82 mm mortars and automatic weapon firing besides civilian hamlets were also targeted by them. The firing was retaliated with the same caliber by BSF jawans but Head Constable 127 Btn Jatinder Kumar Singh son of Laxmi Singh resident of Mothihari Bihar received a splinter injury at Abdullain and succumbed to his wounds while on way to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu.
Eight civilians were also injured due to the shelling at Gopar Basti, R S Pura. The injured were immediately rushed to the GMC&H Jammu where two of them were critical till the last reports came in. They have been identified as Jyoti Sharma (30) wife of Rajinder Sharma, Raj Rani (40) wife of Bachan Lal, Lucky Sharma (20) son of Subash, Abhi Sharma (18) son of Subash Sharma, Uday Sharma (10) son of Suraj Pal, Shano Devi (55) wife of Rashpal, Ravi Dutt (44) Son of Prem Dutt all resident of Gopar Basti R S Pura and Kharu Ram son of Deva Ram resident of Khurd. In Samba and Hiranagar sectors Pak rangers started heavy shelling at Rajpura, and Chahwal and other areas at about 7:00 pm in which two females Sheetal Devi (12) daughter of Kaka Singh and Reeta (35) wife of Shambu Singh both resident of Pansar got injured of shelling and were rushed to the hospital.
At about 5 pm Pak army also opened unproved fire and shelling along LoC in Meander, Balakot, Tarkundi, KG, Manjakot, Panjgran, Mankote forward areas of Poonch and Rajouri targeting residential areas and forward posts. The firing here was also given suitable reply by the army.
Some loss of property was reported from the Niaka Top area of Rajouri due to firing besides some migration towards Gambhir Brahmana in Rajouri distict was also reported.
Due to the firing terror had gripped the inhabitants as 6 persons were killed in Balakot sector in August last year during heavy shelling from across the border.
