Sippy Sidhu, a national level shooter, was shot dead by unidentified persons at a park in Sector 27 here, police said on Monday.
The bullet riddled body of 34-year-old shooter was found in a park in Sector 27 here late on Sunday night. Some passerby spotted the body and informed the police.
Sidhu was also a high-profile lawyer.”He was declared as brought dead when he was rushed to the hospital,” Assistant Superintendent of Police (East), Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said.
“The motive of murder is not yet known. We have registered a case in this connection,” he said.
The ASP said said that the victim’s car was recovered from near the crime spot.
He also said that the victim was grandson of a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
A resident of Mohali, Sidhu was the chairman of a Mohali-based law firm.
Sippy was a rifle shooter and had won the team gold along with Abhinav Bindra in the Punjab National Games in 2001.
He had been on the shooting circuit for more than fifteen years and won medals regularly at various shooting competitions. He was also a joint secretary of the Paralympic Committee of India.
