It is shocking that Delhi University misused autonomy by allowing a text-book ‘Bharat ka Swatantra Sangharsh’ where Shaheed Bhagat Singh was called as ‘terrorist’. It is even more surprising that Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MoHRD) simply ‘advised’ rather than directing authorities of University of Delhi to delete such derogatory remarks for the undisputed great pre-independence martyr of India.
Strict-most action should instead be directed against everyone responsible for allowing publishing the book with objectionable contents. In case the writer of book might not be living, any government award including national honour if conferred to him/her should be immediately withdrawn with adequate publicity as a deterrent against giving derogatory remarks against heroes of India’s freedom.
