CB unearths 17 crores embezzlement in CAPD

Crime Branch Jammu today registered a case in an embezzlement of Rs 17 crores in CAPD Deptt at Reasi District. The matter was referred by SP Reasi to the Crime Branch, for registration of a formal case for in-depth investigation. On perusal of the enquiry report it tra spires that TSOs/Store Keepers/Ration store dealers and other officers/officials of the CA&PD deptt have, in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy, prepared fake and fraudulent bills worth crores of rupees and swindled the same in order to cause wrongful gains to themselves and wrongful loss to the state exchequer.
The omissions and commissions, therefore, on the part of TSO Mahore, Chassana/Store keepers/Ration dealers and officers/officials of CA&PD Deptt., prima facie, constitute offences punishable u/s 420,465, 466,467,468,471,120-B RPC r/w Sec. 5(2) P. C Act Svt. 2006.
Accordingly, a formal case is registered in P/S Crime Branch, Jammu against the above mentioned accused persons and started investigation. SSP Crime Branch Jammu Mubassir Latifi said that there are so many top level officials are involved and nobody can spare who embezzled the money of poor people. — JNF
