Ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Akhnoor, near Line of Control, fire exchange underway

A ceasefire violation has been reported along the Line of Control, in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian troops are retaliating to the firing which, according to some reports, began around 11:45 am on Friday. Violation of ceasefire by the Pakistan Rangers is the second in the last fortnight. Firing from both sides are still underway and more details on the story is awaited.

According to officials, the India’s Border Security Force (BSF), are retaliating effectively to attacks from across the border. The last ceasefire violation took place in Shahpur sector of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on the eve of Independence day, August 14, which was incidentally Pakistan’s Independence day. The firing started in the early hours of the day and went on for over an hour. A few civilian were injured in the last exchange of firing but no lives were lost.
