Srinagar, December 21
A day-long training programme on Online Registration of Service Voters, Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System, Electoral Roll Management, National Electoral Roll & Purification Programme, and ERO Net was held here today.
The session was held under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Shantmanu. Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Deputy District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistance Electoral Registration Officers and other concerned were also attended the programme.
While highlighting the evolution of electoral processes, the CEO said that the aim of these electoral systems designed by the Election Commission of India is to ensure that no voter is left behind in exercising his franchise.
On the occasion, the participants were told that through the newly developed Online Registration of Service Voters and Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System, the Service voters, including armed forces personal (serving outside their constituency), can cast their votes in elections through e-postal ballot, which would reduce the delay experienced in the present system in two-way transmission of ballot paper by the postal services.
= Later, the CEO, urged the officers to ensure successful implementation of new electoral programmes in the state.
